Our cotton is grown, processed, dyed and made into clothing according to organic standards. This simply means that the entire production chain follows strict organic processes to provide a completely environmental product.
As a green business, we continually look for ways to lower our carbon footprint. We are a certified Bay Area Green Business. We work with Arcadia Power for 100% clean, renewable energy and have become an EPA Green Power Partner. Our warehouse and offices are energy efficient, have fluorescent lighting, power-stripped electronics and water and heat conserving fixtures.
Currently we are able to reuse or recycle 80-85% of materials to minimize the trash we generate. We use minimal packaging and reuse most of our packing materials and corrugated boxes. We have paperless systems, digital fax and online invoicing. We do not conduct mass mailings. We use reusable, eco-friendly supplies, recycled stationery and natural biodegradable cleaning products.
Our customers can opt for carbon offsets from Native Energy on outbound shipping. To transport products from our mill in India to our warehouse in CA, USA, we predominantly use ocean shipping. According to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, ocean transportation has the lowest eco impact with carbon emissions of approx. 15% of road and less than 1% of air. Since routes are usually developed in existing waters, developing and maintaining a waterway draws much less on our earth’s resources. The shipping industry is also subject to some of the strictest international regulations on pollution and modern ships are increasingly held to high environmental standards.
