Born in 2002, GI is a non-profit organization working to empower individuals world-wide to think and act creatively in solving global issues.
Through technology, the arts, and interactively GI reinvents activism by inspiring people to act responsibly and the right everyday life choices to create a good clean change for our environment. GI has developed many creative greening programs/ initiatives for events around the US, below is a list of just a few.
- TRASHed: Art of Recycling campaign is an ongoing recycling education program that redefines the way people view recycling and trash bins. The bins are painted to be beautiful and create awareness.
- TRASHed: Recycling Store is an interactive recycling program that encourages people to recycle renewable materials that accumulate on-site at large-scale vents and festivals. Recyclable bottles, cans, and cups are used as currency to “buy” merchandise from the store.
- Human Hamster Wheels are a component of the Sweatshop Mixer where DJs turntables and sound systems are powered by people running on these 7-foot tall hamster wheels. The wheels convert kinetic energy into electricity so event-goers can listen to sets from artists while working up a sweat.
