The UK and Ireland disposes of over 800 million disposable cups each year into landfill sites, we need to reuse not refuse and adopt reusable cups at more events. Plastic cups are one of the main pollutants in the world and sadly the number being disposed into landfill sites is rising annually.
Regular plastic doesn’t degrade for thousands of years and even bio-degradable plastic is crushed so tightly that it doesn’t come into contact with enough air and water to degrade either.
At Festival Cups we understand that huge reductions can be made very simply with the adoption of reusable rather than disposable cups at each and every event. Many of our European neighbours, as well as America and Australia appear to be leading the way in terms of their attitudes towards recycling and it is fantastic that the UK and Ireland are catching up but still more needs to be done.
